Hi. Trying to get off oxycontin and endone. Have been told to use Doloxene and Valium?
The doloxene is dextropropoxphene. It may be a brand name and i am on 40 of the oxycontin and 4-8 tablets of endone (quick release oxycontin 5mg) and day. But now due to friend’s advice – and she is giving it to me – she has hundreds? – this doloxene seems to be working…. take four and it is great plus valium. Have only done for a few days. Am i doing the right thing. I am in Australia so brand names diff. Just really need to get off the oxycontin – it is a ball and chain on my leg i cant shake …..
Question answered… I was put on meds for two broken vertebrae in back T9 and T12. And yes, it still hurts. Have been to every specialist, pain management clinics etc.

The Valium is going to be a problem, it also addictive,. I was on Oxycontin for over five years and I had to go cold turkey. It really sucks, but so does the advice of a non-medical person. if you really want to kick it, and are not able to handle cold turkey, have a qualified doctor bring you off it. He will probably use clonipin, or methadone. be brave and just do it!, oxys are nasty stuff, Ive lost a lot of friends because of using it or just plain having it in their pocket when the junkies show up!.

G’day mate, the advice above seems good to me…. After all, oxycontin is a narcotic, and you wouldn’t expect to be able to get over other narcotic addictions by yourself, would you? Don’t kid yourself that you can ride the wild brumby and not get thrown! Confide in your doctor, tell him EVERYTHING that you’re taking, and follow his/her advice.
good luck (from a fellow Aussie)

The best way to get off narcotic analgesics, is SLOWLY, and under the strict supervision of an MD. As long as you have an “uncontrolled” outside source, you’ll have way too much trouble STRICTLY adhering to the taper. Find a new friend and a good MD.

take the meds exactly as prescribed and follow up with your doctor.
