I Just Bought A Brand New Hp Laptop And The Wireless Internet Isn’t Working? Help!?

I just opened the box and another laptop is using this internet connection fine, but the new HP can’t connect. Any ideas? Its windows vista home premium 64bit and there is nothing wrong with the router. There is no firewall on the laptop or anything. It seems like a communication problem between the modem drivers and windows 64bit? But im not sure why they would sell a brand new laptop with a modem that doesnt work with that 64bit windows vista. Any ideas?

the could be a couple things.
first the easy fix, is the wireless switch turned on?
second, does your router have a specific SSID, or is it encrypted?

Well as assuming someone smart installed your router, they also put some security on it, so you might have to put a password in before you can get on. If it was just out of the box you need to check your confg settings on the laptop.

Click on start, and then connect to, a new window should pop up.See if it’s getting a signal from the router. Also make sure the wireless switch is in the on position.

Sounds like driver issues. On your other laptop, go onto HP’s websites and look for the appropriate wireless network card’s drivers.

Go to the support section of HP’s website. They typically have guides to troubleshoot issues.
