I Need Advice On A Job Seniority Issue…do I Have A Good Case?
7 Comments | Posted by Brand McNaut in Brand Management
A year ago when I started out in my job as a security guard $16/hr, I started out the first 5 months in the overnight shift, then 7 months ago when about 3 guys left I being the oldest there I was offrered the best schedule (daytime tues-sat, 8am- 4pm), since i was in school during the day I had to pass on it and work evenings, so it was given to a brand new guy. Now I want it, but I know I might not get it, Ive been there a year, the guy with it(the best schedule) has been there 5 months, I feel like going to the management office and asking them to give it to me, after all Ive been there 1 yr and I started out doing the worst schedule. Had I not passed on it the other guy would have been overnight or evenings anyway so let me get the day schedule and give him evenings now.

Hi. Trying to get off oxycontin and endone. Have been told to use Doloxene and Valium?
The doloxene is dextropropoxphene. It may be a brand name and i am on 40 of the oxycontin and 4-8 tablets of endone (quick release oxycontin 5mg) and day. But now due to friend’s advice – and she is giving it to me – she has hundreds? – this doloxene seems to be working…. take four and it is great plus valium. Have only done for a few days. Am i doing the right thing. I am in Australia so brand names diff. Just really need to get off the oxycontin – it is a ball and chain on my leg i cant shake …..
Question answered… I was put on meds for two broken vertebrae in back T9 and T12. And yes, it still hurts. Have been to every specialist, pain management clinics etc.

Are These The Blonde Jokes You Have Been Waiting For?

Genie & Truck Driver
A truck driver was tooling down the highway one afternoon and heard a “pop.” Thinking that perhaps he had blown a tire, he steered the rig onto the shoulder and walked back to check his tires.
He found a bottle laying in the gutter. He picked it up and wiped off the label to see what kind of bottle it was when a very old genie popped out.
The genie said, “Man, I’m too old for this! You get one wish — not three — just one.”
The driver thought long and hard, and finally said, “It would be really nice for all the bridges to be wide enough that over-sized loads could get through without any trouble.”
The genie said, “Do you know how many bridges that would be?! Can’t you come up with something simpler?”
The driver replied, “How about if you make all the blondes as smart as brunettes?”
The genie shook his head vigorously and answered, “How wide would you like those bridges?”

Rocket Gear
There was this nouveau riche blond girl, who went to the nearest Mercedes showroom with a pocketful of dollars, and came out with the latest model.
Half an hour later she was back at the showroom, claiming a that the car they sold her was terrible, that she was disappointed a brand-new Mercedes would get a fault in the gearbox after 15 minutes. The management apologized and gave her a new car.
Again, after half an hour she came back. The management offered her a new car, but sent along one of their engineers to see if they could figure out what the problem was. She put in the first gear… sped up… put in second… third… fourth… fifth…. And now, she said, for the rocket, and threw it in reverse.

Important document file
The boss who was on the 25th floor of the building called up the blonde secretary on the ground floor for an important file.
Since it was rather urgent the boss told the secretary it was an emergency and that he should hurry with the file.
After more than 30 minutes the blonde clerk appears all tired and panting for breath.
The Boss asks him why he was panting and what caused the huge delay.
The blonde secretary replies, ‘Boss when I went to the lift it said ‘during an emergency please use the staircase’!!!

In The Nba, Why Do Teams With Very Tall Centers Have Very Short Power Fowards?
5 Comments | Posted by Brand McNaut in Brand Strategies
for example:
houston – center: yao ming 7′6”
power forward: chuck hayes 6′6”
miami – center: shaq 7′1”
power forward: udonis haslem 6′8”
cleveland – center: zydrunas ilgauskas 7′3”
power forward: drew gooden 6′9”
l.a. clippers – center: chris kaman 7′0”
power forward: elton brand 6′8”
utah – center: mehmet okur 7′0”
power forward: carlos boozer 6′8”
does this have something to do with team chemistry or team strategy that makes the team play better? i seriously think if a team has 2 very tall center and power forward with good rebounding and shot blocking abilities would be more effective. why do some teams like to have this kind of starting front court?

How Often Have You Changed Jobs In Your Life?
27 Comments | Posted by Brand McNaut in Brand Management
My generation, coined ‘generation Y’ or the ‘echo boomers’, are supposed to be unloyal workers who change jobs frequently: A 2008 survey by UK recruitment consultancy FreshMinds Talent in partnership with Management Today suggested that Generation Y are generally more ambitious, brand conscious and tend to move jobs more often than previous generations. The survey of over 1,000 people, entitled Work 2.0, also suggests several possible misconceptions about Generation Y, including that they are as loyal as their predecessors and believe that their job says something about them as individuals.
I have just read several answers where ‘previous generations’ have walked out of jobs after a couple of weeks and even a half day! Do you feel like you are/were more loyal to your employers than my generation?

Do You Have Your Duct Tape Handy This Morning?

McClatchy Newspapers – Sun Oct 11, 6:00 am ET
WASHINGTON — As the Obama administration reconsiders its Afghanistan policy, White House officials are minimizing warnings from the intelligence community, the military and the State Department about the risks of adopting a limited strategy focused on al Qaida , U.S. intelligence, diplomatic and military officials told McClatchy .
Recent U.S. intelligence assessments have found that the Taliban and other Pakistan -based groups that are fighting U.S.-led forces have much closer ties to al Qaida now than they did before 9/11, would allow the terrorist network to re-establish bases in Afghanistan and would help Osama bin Laden export his radical brand of Islam to Afghanistan’s neighbors and beyond, the officials said.
McClatchy interviewed more than 15 senior and mid-level U.S. intelligence, military and diplomatic officials, all of whom said they concurred with the assessments. All of them requested anonymity because the assessments are classified and the officials weren’t authorized to speak publicly.
The officials said the White House is searching for an alternative to the broader counterinsurgency strategy favored by Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal , the U.S. military commander in Afghanistan , and Gen. David Petraeus , the head of the U.S. Central Command.
White House officials, they said, have concluded that McChrystal’s approach could be doomed by election fraud, corruption and other problems in Afghanistan ; by continued Pakistani covert support for the insurgency; by the strains on the Army , Marine Corps and the federal budget; and by a lack of political and public support at home, which they fear could also undermine the president’s domestic priorities.

How Do I Know What Brands Of Supplements Have The Potency Correctly Stated On The Bottle?
5 Comments | Posted by Brand McNaut in Brand Management
I have heard of and seen programs where they test certain brands of vitamins and other supplements sold in drug stores. On these programs they ‘expose’ brands as not having in the ‘pill’ what the brands say they have.
For example, a glucosamine capsule which advertises 1500 units on the bottle may only have 1000. This is just an example. I do not remember the brands which were ‘bad’ nor the supplement.
So, my question is, how do I know I am paying for what I am getting? Today, I entered into a health store which sells a huge selection of vitamins and other pills. I wanted a specific supplement which might the pain I have in my rotator cuff. There were lots of these pills for joint health, and that is when I started to wonder if I am just buying a sugar pill or am I getting what it says on the bottle.
