I know I have this urge to stay with my laptop for 24hours a day as long as there is power and internet on it. I am daily working hard to leave the laptop alone.

Which Laptop Is Best For A Gamer?

I want a laptop mostly for gaming im not a hardcore gamer. I just want one or two games with some longevity, maybe Civilization 4 or one of the strategy games. I have a price range mainly 1200 $ down. But I want something with some quality. That will play the game with out any problems. What laptop is best? What kind of hardware do I need with it? What is the minum speed?
AND WILL I BE ABLE TO PLAY ONLINE?!
First off what Brand of laptop has the most selection?

While installing my new 250GB laptop hard drive I made a 25GB partition to use for the operating system and computer drivers/utilities. Under disk Management it shows the 25GB as only 24.41GB labled (C:) and the rest of the drive 208.47GB as unallocated.
Questions:
1) If I want all my other downloads to go to the unallocated space should I right click on it and make it a 208.47GB partition? If so I would assume I would have to lable it another letter, but how to I designate which partition to save things in? Maybe after there are 2 partitions it will ask me which to save in.
2) Will the computer know to use the (C:) partition as the primary?
3) Will my 208.47GB area that I want to save downloads like music in be called the “extended” partition?
4) If my brand new Western Digital Scorpio Blue 2.5″ EIDE internal laptop hard drive claims it’s 250GB why is it only showing 232.88 on my Disk Management page? I know some space is used , but not 17.12GB.
Thanks for your help!!!

I Need Help Choosing A Laptop?

i need to choose a new laptop before august 17th (that’s when i start school), so i plan on using the laptop for school,(game design, 3d modeling, and programming), gaming(i’ll be playing mostly RTS, strategy, RPG, and maybe a few racing and action, i won’t be playing games like prototype because i have my ps3 and 360), web browsing, email, movies and music (needs to have a good hd)
brand won’t buy an an acer, not a big fan of hp, or Toshiba but will
consider
ram i would like it to be ddr3 but iam fine with ddr2 but would like 4gb or enough to play games
harddrive needs enough space for games, music, movies, and school work
cpu needs to be faster enough run everything
graphics card good enough to play the latest games
screen really don’t want anything bigger than 16.4 but again will consider
battery needs to be able to run 3+ hours the more the better
i was looking at the dell studio xps 13 and 16 but everyone said the 13 has major heating issues, 16 not as bad. plzz help

First, heres the laptop I’m looking at:
www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4951842&CatId=4942
Heres what I want out of my laptop:
1) Able to do at least some multitasking (play a game while watching a movie while listening to music while typing a term paper, for example)
2) Able to do some gaming – I mostly play emulated PSX games and low system requirement strategy games, but I’d also like to be able to use at least some newer games. The very latest ultra mega graphics-intensive game isn’t that important, but Spore or Elder Scrolls IV on high settings would be nice
3) good quality parts – I don’t really need the best, but I don’t want cheap entry level consumer parts either
4) high reliability – I’ll be using it for work and school and a LOT of personal use (typing and movies), so I want it to be able to stand up to higher pressure than a typical computer user would do.
5) quality of customer service doesn’t matter
6) I want it to just be a generally all-around good computer that won’t need replacing for a year or two
now, how does the laptop in the link above rate against the criteria I gave?
I’m unfamiliar with the brand. Does it have a good reputation?
in a few words, what would you call this laptop (high end gaming, low end gaming, higher entry level, mid level consumer, etc)?
and how good is it for the cost?
I’m looking at a budget of around 1500-2000 dollars, and this seems to be the best bang for the buck that I’ve found.
I’ll make sure to give a Best Answer here too, so answer well please!
Thanks in advance

im a 1st yr college student (BBA Management) and i do a lot of saving. (term papers, assignment, etc.)
i dont mind a heavy laptop, just as long as it big enough to carry around.
what’s MOST important is the brand and the memory size. i dont want it to keep hanging up like our home PC. very irritating.
Im a business student. (if that helps, LOL)
I am not a gamer.
i like sophisticated things. (Black, white)
LARGE MEMORY
GREAT BRAND
AFFORDABLE (maybe $1000 tops)
NOT A NOTEBOOK
Please give me the complete name/model/type/wtvr so that i can web it and look at it myself.
Tnx

Okay so I am 12 years old,I got my toshiba laptop like sometime in the summer i’m pretty sure.I haven’t even had it for a year!
Anyway I play the game second life, and this guy had a crash button and made me lag really bad so I tried to exit out.It wouldn’t exit out,So I click restart and it worked
But now when i turn it back on nothing shows up but a black screen
I haven’t told my mom yet because i’m hoping one of you know what I can do to fix it
IS Toshiba even a good computer brand because i read an answer that said:
Based on experience, no stay away from this company.
All the ones owned had over heating issues and LCD related problems with lines of dead pixels all over the screen. Owned 3 different models and all went to crap within a year or two with standard use.
Read the manufactures forums before you invest in a laptop to make sure clients are not complaining about a specific model.
Any system regardless of how much protection you add can get infected with a virus. It really has nothing to do with the brand. It’s more about user management and security updates.
I have noticed that my laptop gets very hot.And I am worried that the pixels on the screen are dead.So please help me.My mom paid so much money for this computer. She paid about $600 for it and for some things to be installed it ended up being 1k

In Disk Management Console, I see the C drive, can “shrink” the volume (using the recommended size), but when I attempt to create a simple volume with the unallocated space, I receive a message: “There is not enough space on the disk to complete this operation.” I even lowered the recommended size and still receive these numbers. This is a brand new Laptop, factory installed OS.
