If Someone “bumper Bumped” Your Car …?
10 Comments | Posted by Brand McNaut in Brand Management
in a parking lot and just left their car parked there kissing your bumper and you came out to your car and saw it – what would you do?
In my case is was less of a kiss and more of a firm thrust. And it was less of a car and more of my brand new baby (2008 Sonata – I know, lame).
What did I do? After I put my crow bar away – deciding not to use it on their car or their face – and wrote them a note saying, “Next time you hit a car causing damage or not you should leave a note – INCONSIDERATE.” (For the record my license plate was a bit bent.)
I’m trying to work on my anger management issues.

Can Someone Proofread This!? It’s A Position Essay. If I Should Add Somethin To Make It Sound More Position?

Traveling down a busy highway, a number of well constructed billboards linger near every overpass and exit. Listening to the radio, a song is bluntly disrupted by an irrelevant announcement. Watching television, a popular show is left on a cliff hanger until the 7 minute commercial break is over. Surfing the internet, a banner crosses the monitor disrupting a video or game. There are a number of ways in which advertising may try to persuade the public to buy their products. Advertisers are reaching consumers through everyday conveniences. Most would say advertisement is a way to promote information about services and products, but in most cases, it involves deception and manipulation. It may even trigger severe aggravation and irritation. Advertisers are using the manipulative approach instead of the clear, basic informative approach.
Good advertising needs to convey the basic information about the product or service, but often, it takes advantage of the consumer by not including, or disguising some piece of relevant information that might make the consumer think twice about the product. An Advertiser’s objective is to try to make the consumer take the first step towards a specific company. This might make the consumer call an 800 number, go to a showroom, or be convinced that one product is better than another, by using any number of manipulating strategies and tactics. As consumers, people should beware of the media blitz of the advertising warlords. By watching almost any TV commercial, some might notice some fine print at the bottom of the screen. If read quick enough, the print explains that basically what is being advertised is not what the consumer is receiving. It might cost more, be a different color, different size, or not even be available at all.
Media (TV, Radio, Internet. Etc.) is found to be the most effective approach for advertisers to reach the consumers. Companies pay anywhere from $10,000 to over $50,000 for actors or celebrities to expose their products in music, movies, television and their everyday lives. This kind of exposure is called product placement. This form of advertising originated in the late 1800’s during a film called Défilé du 8e Battalion. It featured a wheelbarrow with a sunlight soap logo on the side of it. Thus, the business of product placement had begun. Product placement is effective because consumes are more likely to be engaged during a show or movie than during the commercial breaks. The opposite of product placement is said to be called “reverse product placement.” “Reverse product placement” takes “faux product placement” a step further, by making products in real life to match those seen in a movie or TV show. For example, in 2007, 7-Eleven remodeled eleven of its American stores as “Kwik-E-Marts”, selling some real-life versions of products seen in episodes of the Simpsons such as Buzz Cola, Duff Beer and Krusty-O’s cereal.
Although most advertising is manipulative, people rely on it to expose them to new products and services being offered. Informative advertisements provide clear facts and data. A commercial for a dishwashing soap shows how effective one brand works compared to another brand. That’s important for a consumer to see when deciding which brand to purchase. Informative advertising is almost the complete opposite of manipulative advertising. They are relevant to consumers’ interests, they try not to interrupt, and they are informative with clear facts and data. Although informative advertising seems useful, Advertisers often take the manipulative approach to promote their informative product or service. Informative advertisements aren’t well known and tend to be ignored.
Advertisements are ruining our society. According to Capital City Weekly, the average household receives over thirty four pounds of advertisements by mail each year. That’s a total of 4.5 million tons of advertisements mailed each year. Unfortunately, studies find that children are the biggest target of all advertising. Kids represent an important part of population to marketers because they have their own purchasing power. They influence their parents’ buying decisions and they’re the adult consumers of the future. A recent study conducted by the Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth found that the top 15 programs in 2003 had alcohol in their ads. That is a wrong example to be setting for our next generation of voters, politicians, doctors, and the future generation of America.
Subliminal messaging and hidden product placement among others, are abusing the informative format of advertising. Advertising that could improve our society is not exposed enough. Issues like gun control and drunk driving are significant and superior to issues like toys being sold at McDonalds and what shows to watch on primetime TV. Advertisements need to be limited. They are hurting the future generation, spending America’s money, and overwhelming our free country. Nobody but the publ

Can Someone Who Understands Finance Answer This Question?
1 Comment | Posted by Brand McNaut in Brand Strategies
I own 30,000 shares of IBCIQ.PK. This is Interstate Brands Corporation,Hostess cake, Dolly madison,Wonder, etc…. They have been bankrupt for 4 yrs. and is trading at 3 cents. I found this article which is saying there may be a buyout at $12.50 a share. I know this won’t translate to 12.50 a share for stockholders but will it help at all maybe bring it to $1. I will post it now if it gets cut off go to google finance then enter IBCIQ.PK and it is the first article thank you. Oct 04, 2008 (The Kansas City Star – McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) — IBC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating — Interstate Bakeries Corp. received court approval Friday to arrange delivery of some bread.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Jerry Venters gave the wholesale baking company permission to commit to nearly $600 million in financing agreements that will allow Interstate to finally emerge from more than four years of bankruptcy. The arrangements also will give a New York investment fund majority ownership in the newly restructured company.
But in tacking down the financial commitments, Interstate had to agree to chip in something for its unsecured creditors, who had been slated to get nothing under the reorganization.
Ripplewood Holdings has agreed to invest $130 million in Interstate, consisting of $44.2 million in cash and $85.8 million in convertible debt. In exchange, it will receive a 50 percent equity stake in the reorganized company. It also will get warrants to acquire an additional 15 percent stake at a price of $12.50 a share.
In addition, Silver Point Capital LP and three other lenders that together hold about $450 million, or 53 percent, of IBC’s pre-petition secured debt have agreed to swap that for $147.3 million in notes and $85.8 million in debt. The debt would be convertible to a 33 percent stake in the new company.
The lenders also have agreed to a $339 million loan to help finance Interstate’s exit from bankruptcy. That would supplement a $125 million revolving loan from General Electric Credit Corp. to further finance Interstate once it emerges from the protection of the bankruptcy court.
In exchange for the agreement to invest, Interstate would pay Ripplewood $6.5 million in fees and up to $6 million in expenses. The lenders on the $339 million loan would collect $16.5 million in fees. About $3.2 million of those fees will be due if the court approves the equity portion of the financing arrangement. A hearing on that is set for Oct. 22.
In its court filing, Interstate, which makes such iconic brands as Wonder Bread and Hostess Twinkies, called the financing agreement “a watershed moment” for the company and its 22,000 employees. Once the largest wholesale bread baker in the United States, it has closed more than a dozen bakeries and eliminated 10,000 jobs since falling into bankruptcy four years ago.
But to finally reach that watershed moment Friday, Interstate decided it was going to have to give if it expected to get.
Venters’ approval came after Interstate and Ripplewood worked out a last-minute agreement with unsecured creditors, who are owed about $190 million.
The unsecured creditors tried to put up a roadblock to the financing agreement with a motion filed Monday. Its lawyers objected to the baking company’s “absolute” commitment to pay Ripplewood millions of dollars in fees, while Ripplewood could pull out of the deal if Interstate’s financial condition changed “materially.”
IBC responded that the fees were appropriate and contended that “the objection should be viewed for what it is — an effort to create leverage to get a settlement that provides some recovery to unsecured creditors.”
And in that regard, the unsecured creditors’ strategy worked.
Without providing details, lawyers for Interstate said it and Ripplewood agreed to give the unsecured creditors some cash and pay up to $890,000 in their expenses, plus other considerations.
In exchange, the unsecured creditors dropped their objection to the financing commitment and agreed to support the baking company’s reorganization.
The approval Friday sets up Interstate for finally shedding bankruptcy protection. Lawyers said that they were preparing a slightly modified reorganization plan and that if the court approved its “disclosure” documents for the plan and approved a final version of the financing agreements, then the plan could go to creditors for a vote.
Interstate has said it intends to get that done by Feb. 9, when its current bankruptcy financing expires. Interstate filed for bankruptcy protection Sept. 22, 2004.

Interstate’s financials
In a recent filing, Interstate Bakeries reported a loss of $143.7 million on sales of $2.8 billion for the year ending May 31. That compared with a loss of $112.8 million on sales of $2.9 billion in the previous fiscal year

My dog is a puggle (Beagle/Pug) 4 years old. People say that he should weigh about 15-30 pounds and my dog weighs 57.5 pounds. I also heard that if your dog weighs more than it should, the less life span he has. I’m currently caught up in school from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm and by the time i get home it too hot outside to walk him. Because i live in Arizona the heat to the dog is not the best. I dont want to walk him outside in the 115 degree weather. The food I’m feeding him is a Nutro brand with ultra weight management. I really dont know the best way to get rid of his weight, so can someone please help me?

Am I Supposed To Pay For All Damages Done To A House That I Rent, When Someone Brakes In? I Live In Oklahoma.?
7 Comments | Posted by Brand McNaut in Brand Management
Someone broke into my home by breaking down a french door on my side porch. I happen to know the person who did this. Does this matter? I rent my house and I called the management company that rent out the house that I live in. I was told that the door will be replaced ( it’s a very old door and screen, atleast 80 yrs old), and it will cost $1000.00. We also have to pay for that. They said they will work something out on paying for it. (like adding so much to our rent every month) At first I didn’t mind, then, I got to thinking. I am going to be paying for these wonderful brand new french doors in this house that I don’t even own. So everybody that will live in this house after me is going to enjoy these doors that I paid for. The doors could use an update. Is there anything anybody knows about renters laws and what a tenant is actually responsible for in this type of situation? Its not tenant or owners fault. But tenant has to pay for it?
